Alan Weinberger’s Founding Vision

ASCII was born from a simple yet powerful idea: IT professionals are stronger together. In the early 1980s, a group of independent technology providers joined forces to collaborate, support one another, and expand their service offerings.

At the center of this movement was founder Alan Weinberger, who recognized that many in the industry didn’t want to go it alone. They were looking for connection and guidance—and they trusted Alan to build a lasting community around those needs.

That original vision remains at the heart of ASCII today. What began as a member-driven initiative has grown into a trusted network built on mutual respect, knowledge-sharing, and a commitment to helping IT professionals thrive.
