Alan

Alan Weinberger, CEO

Alan Weinberger founded The ASCII Group, Inc. (ASCII) in 1984 with 40 computer dealers. It was the first neutral, industry “community network” of IT solution providers and established the model that has been used in IT and many other industries that the internet has now enabled. He has been its Chairman and CEO since that time. There are ASCII solution providers located throughout North America and affiliates in over 50 countries.

Among the numerous honors Mr. Weinberger has received include being named by CRN as one of the top 25 most influential executives in the computer industry; was named by Cyber Channels as the Executive of the Year in 2000 and he has written lead op-editorials in the Wall Street Journal and San Jose Mercury News. He has also appeared in the national news media discussing issues of concern to the computer industry. Mr. Weinberger has a B.A. and J.D. degrees from New York University and an LL. M. Degree from Harvard University.


Doug Young

Doug Young, Vice President for Membership and Distribution

Doug Young serves as ASCII’s Vice President for Membership and Distribution. In this position, Doug is in charge of customer service for all of ASCII’s members along with managing ASCII’s distribution and business services partnerships. Prior to joining ASCII, Doug worked for several years on Capitol Hill as an attorney focusing on education and labor issues. In addition to being an avid golfer and huge Notre Dame fan, Doug volunteers his time with various charities, including the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

Doug holds a B.A. degree from the University of Notre Dame and a J.D. from the College of William & Mary.


Jerry

Jerry Koutavas, Vice President of Business Development

Jerry Koutavas serves as ASCII Group's VP of Business Development. In this position, Jerry is responsible for all aspects of the company's vendor programs and revenue generation. Prior to joining ASCII, Jerry spent over 5 years in the consumer products channel for companies such as Kellogg. In addition to directing ASCII's revenue efforts, Jerry is actively involved in building strategic initiatives with such companies such as Microsoft, Google, Gartner, CNET Networks and DELL. Jerry is an avid basketball player and golfer.

Jerry earned a BS in Marketing from Salisbury University.


Ed Kohlwey

Ed Kohlwey, IT Director

Ed Kohlwey is The ASCII Group's IT Director. Duties include managing the corporate website and intranet, managing customization and development of internal and external-use applications, and coordination and management of agreements with 3rd party IT providers.


Jim Huggins

Jim Huggins, Controller

Jim is the Controller of the ASCII Group. Has been working in the Accounting and Finance fields for over 30 years. His weekends are spent motorcycling, kayaking or sailing. Jim grew up on the Chesapeake Bay and enjoys all types of water sports.


Jill Kerr

Jill Kerr, Director of Business Development

Jill has recently re-joined The ASCII Group as Director of Business Development.  Jill had previous spent 10 years at ASCII in a variety of management positions.  Jill has also held leadership roles in The Information Technology Association of America and The Computing Technology Industry Association.  Jill holds a B.A. in Communications Studies from Muhlenberg College and has completed advanced studies in e-commerce management at The University of Virginia.   Jill is an avid runner and spends much of her spare time on streets and trails in the Washington DC area training for the next big race.
